ITINERARY EXAMPLES FOR OUR DAY TOURS

Private South Coast to Vík day tour

The scenic South Coast tour includes a visit to majestic waterfalls, beautiful basalt columns, a hollow cape in the ocean, a glacier, and black sand beaches. We drive in the area where one of the most famous Viking sagas took place, Njálsbrenna, or the story of burnt Njáll, featuring Gunnar á Hlíðarenda and Hallgerður Langbrók. On the tour you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology, and Viking history, but most of all you will have fun and enjoy the scenery.

The Diamond Circle

This tour starts with a 45-minute flight from the domestic airport in Reykjavik to Akureyri. We visit the sites on the so-called Diamond Circle, where we see great waterfalls, a gorge, strange lava structures, beautiful lakes, and a colorful geothermal area. On this tour we see a different landscape from the south and learn about the flora and fauna, the geology, and the history of the area, and we learn that visiting Hell isn’t always a bad thing. 😀

Private Snæfellsnes peninsula day tour

The peninsula has been called Iceland in a nutshell because it has little bit of everything Iceland has to offer. Rhyolite mountains, Moberg mountains, old and young rock formations, a glacier, gorges, rivers, beaches, fishing villages, lava fields, folklore, and history. Although we offer this as a day tour, because of the long driving, we recommend doing this as a two-day, more relaxed tour or a two-day tour with the addition of Borgarfjörður.

Private Golden Circle day tour

The Golden Circle is not actually a circle! It is more of a triangle for it is a route between the three most famous places in Iceland. The ancient parliament site Thingvellir, the geyser area, and Gullfoss, Iceland's second-largest waterfall. We have added many great sights so now it is a polygon and a very large one indeed! In this tour that could actually be called Iceland 101, you will learn about the sagas, geology, flora, and fauna, but above all, you will enjoy the beauty of it and have fun!

Private tour - Hiking the unbeaten path

There are many places in a short driving distance from Reykjavik where we hike in a beautiful landscape where you almost never see any tourists or even Icelanders. Choose between the examples given in the itinerary or tell us where you want to hike. Many of the examples given are only for those who are well-fit and used to hiking on uneven terrain and steep hills but we offer hikes for all levels. The tour is usually between 5 and 6 hours.

Private Reykjanes Peninsula day tour

One of the best ways to get rid of jet lag after a red-eye flight is to go on a short tour, possibly soak in a pool, and check in to your hotel at the normal time, around 3:00 p.m. Take a nap until dinnertime, go out for a dinner and early to bed. This way you are ready to enjoy the adventures to come. The Reykjanes Peninsula, the youngest part of Iceland, is also a great place to start your Iceland journey, learning about the geology that shaped and is still shaping Iceland.

Private Borgarfjörður day tour - The Silver Circle tour

The Silver Circle, or Borgarfjörður, with its rich Viking history, is a great place to visit. Beautiful mountains, glacier views, extraordinary waterfalls, and a crater. Egils saga, the story of Egill from 4 years old to his old age of 82, has lived among the people of Iceland for over a thousand years. It is not possible to drive around this area without thinking about his brutality and beauty! The contrast in nature and the contrast in one man being a poet and a mass murderer—you find it all here.

Egilsstaðir - Stuðlagil and Vök

This day tour starts with a one-hour flight from Reykjavik to Egilsstaðir, where we then drive towards Stuðlagil. There is a choice between a two-hour hike back and forth to the canyon or driving closer and then walking a stairway of more than one hundred steps and watching the canyon from the other side. After enjoying Stuðlagil, we can bathe in the geothermal baths at Vök or see the colorful street in Seyðisfjörður. Flying again back to Reykjavik before dinnertime.

Ísafjörður - Bolafjall and Dynjandi

This day tour starts with a one-hour flight from Reykjavik to Ísafjöður. Ísafjörður is the largest town in the northwest of Iceland. The mountains in this area are all flat at the top and we drive up to one of them to enjoy the spectacular view over the fjords in the west. We drive through tunnels, hills, and mountains between the fjords. We see waterfalls and learn about the history and the nature in the most remote and rural area of Iceland.
